One name fits. Find it.

A whole town is in this phone book, and exactly one name in it fits every clue. Pick up a clue, strike out everyone it rules out, and keep going until a single name is left standing. Then accuse it.

The long version

Every case is a town's phone book: chapters for its districts, numbered pages, and hundreds or thousands of names in reading order. Somebody borrowed the red bicycle, and they are in here somewhere.

Pick a clue and it becomes your highlighter, in its own colour. Their chapter's title is about water. Their page number is odd. Their name has exactly four letters. Each one sweeps through the book and takes a crowd of names out with it.

Every strike is checked against the clue in your hand. If that clue does not rule out all of it, nothing is struck and it counts as a mistake, so a wrong turn shows up where you made it rather than at the end.

One name, proven

Every clue is checked against every entry before a book is dealt, and the case ships only when exactly one name passes them all.

Books that grow

Rookie opens twelve pages and five clues. Chief reaches ninety pages and some 1,700 names.

Tools on the desk

Undo takes back a strike, and Find shows every page a name is listed on, three times a case.

Calm by design

No clock, no lives, no failing. A case stays open until you close it, and the screen stays awake while you read.

What this game uses

Nothing yet. Rubrica is not published, and its advertising and analytics backends are not wired up, so a build made from it today embeds no third-party services at all. This list fills in when they are, and the Privacy Policy is generated from the same place, so the two cannot disagree.
