Indizio

Puzzle · Everyone / 4+

Every suspect tells the truth. Only one arrangement fits.

Indizio is Italian for clue. Suspects are hiding on a tiled map of rooms, and each one's card states facts about where they are. Reason from those facts alone and every suspect lands on exactly one tile.

The long version

There is nothing to search and nothing to time. A case is a map, a handful of suspects, and what each of them says about their own position: which room they are in, what they are next to, how far they are from someone else. The statements are all true, and together they leave exactly one arrangement standing.

The maps are built out of room layouts rather than drawn, so the walls come out of the data: a heavier seam wherever the tile next door belongs to a different room, a lighter one inside a room. The grid stays visible either way, because it is a grid game and you count on it.

It is also the most travelled thing the studio has made. The case text is written in sixteen languages, so the puzzle reads in yours rather than in translation.

Their own words give them away

Every card is a true statement about its own suspect. Nothing is hidden and nothing is random.

Sixteen languages

Case text is written in sixteen, so the reasoning happens in your own language.

The walls draw themselves

Rooms come from the layout, and the seams are heavier wherever one room meets another.

Cases, then harder cases

Work through a case and the next tier opens. There is no clock on any of them.
